What's happening?

  • Oktoberfest Success!

The Oktoberfest was a success this year! It is amazing to see how many people [rain or shine] come out each year to support the Sister Cities of Vandalia Oktoberfest. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out this weekend. We could not have done it without each and every one of you! Hope to see everyone back next year!!!
  • Oktoberfest Signs Are Going Up

Lena Kuchlbauer of Lichtenfels, Germany and Cooper Davell an exchange student to Lichtenfels hung the first Oktoberfest sign at the site of our Oktoberfest.
  • Potato Salad Making Time

Who ever imagined that potato peeling could be so much fun! Mark your calendars to join us at AmVets on Brown School Rd on Wednesday, September 3rd. The bacon and onion crew will be frying and mincing on Monday, September 1st. The potato boiling crew begins work at 6 AM on Wednesday so the peelers can start at around 9:30. This is a great way to meet new people, enjoy a light lunch and help make our delicious potato salad. - Elaine Johnson
  • Air Show Parade

Thanks to everyone for a great Air Show Parade! One could not ask for a lovelier evening or more enthusiastic group. Our beautiful bier garden float (thanks to the decorating crew) was filled with grandparents, parents, students and children. The Sister City banner was carried by Elaine Miller, an exchange student to Germany, and Cheyenne Rogers, this year’s winner of the Walter Lakin scholarship. A big thanks to all. -Elaine Johnson
